Adding Segments Before Station 0+00… Mystery Solved

Posted by Dana Breig Probert, EIT on November 7th, 2006

I always had a problem when I needed to add additional alignment segments in front of station zero.  Sure, the curves worked out fine, but tangents never seemed to want to give me what I needed....  I would wind up reversing the alignment, adding segments to the "end" then re-reversing the alignment to get station zero back where I needed it. This seemed to be more of an issue when I was making transition alignments and my corridor was already dependant on the direction of the stationing.  However, last week, one of the Autodesk folks showed me what I was missing.  The key is not to pick the tangent start point from Station 0+00.  Pick it to END at Station 0+00 Click MORE for some captures to help explain it...
