Civil 3D at PA Users Group Meeting July 18

Posted by Dana Breig Probert, EIT on 26th June 2007

Ok, so I know lately I have been showing up only for announcements and other lame posts.  I promise as soon as the smoke clears on the INTENSE month that I have had you will be eternally sick of reading posts from me.  I plan on posting at least five times a day. OK, maybe not.  But I will come back to life very soon as my expanding belly is making me long for days in my home office.

ANYWAY- I wanted to let everyone know about the PAUG meeting on July 18 at Montgomery County Community College in Blue Bell, PA.  I will be there and I hope to see you there.

When I saw that David Blanchette from Autodesk was speaking on Civil 3D 2008 coupled with Google Earth including building a corridor, doing some volume analysis, modifying it, rendering it, then creating a drive-thru I knew that I couldn’t miss it.  Dave gives a great talk and it is a rare chance to network with other Civil 3D Users in the area.

There will also be a presentation on Autodesk Design Review, which I know I need to study up on myself.

RSVP to PAUG President Timothy Kramer at misteracad@gvcad.com

R.O.W.s Revisited

Posted by Matt Kolberg on 19th June 2007

I know what you’re thinking, “Hey another article from that dude Matt. I wonder where he’s been?” Well, I’ve been busy jet setting around the world. What with the trekking in Machu Picchu, the summit attempt on Everest, and that rash they haven’t been able to figure out yet, I just haven’t had the time to write.

If you believe that I’ll sell you my VBA routine that removes all the bugs from every application out there.

A while back I wrote a piece about placing R.O.W. lines in your cross sections. It worked well…there?s an easier way now. No assembly edits, no code set styles. Woohoo!

Sidewalk Feature line Missing?

Posted by Dana Breig Probert, EIT on 15th June 2007

You may have noticed that the sidewalk buffer out (P4) feature line does not get drawn on your corridors.  This holds for both the BasicSidewalk and UrbanSidewalk subassemblies.

Posted by Matt Kolberg on 13th June 2007

If you’ve spent any time at all using Civil 3D, you’ll know that you need to change the model space scale of things from time to time.  This can be done in the “Edit Drawing Settings”…but it can also be done elsewhere, read on. Read the rest of this entry »

Entering Deeds Into Revit

Posted by Jason Hickey on 12th June 2007

Yeah, you read it right.    I’m amazed myself.

Architects have a better way of entering deeds into a drawing than we do in Civil 3D. I would have never guessed.    Proof after the jump: Read the rest of this entry »

Following in Dana’s Footsteps

Posted by Jason Hickey on 12th June 2007

Since Dana posted her AU classes, here’s mine -

From Dirt to Doors - Making Civil 3D and Revit Work in Harmony 1.5 Hour Class

I’m looking for real world examples of Architects using Revit and Engineers using Civil 3D who play well together for the class - if this describes you or someone you know, let me know. I’m always looking for case studies.

I’ll be teaching this class with Mike Massey of “Knowing What You Don’t Know” fame. He’s our resident Architectural guru, and will be schooling me in all things Revit.
