An Interesting Thing Happened on the Way to a Whitepaper

I was recently writing up some information on Civil 3D implementations. In doing so, I had gathered data from a few organizations that had successfully made the migration to Civil 3D and I created a graph from that data. The results are interesting.

Detention Basin Volumes (and more!) in Civil 3D

Wouldn’t it be great if you could extract the storage volume of a detention basin directly from your surface in Civil 3D? Wouldn’t it be cool if you could insert a table right into your drawing that shows the elevations, incremental storage volume and cumulative storage volume for your basin? How great would it be to have the ability to create a text file report with the storage information. Well, now you can do all this in Civil 3D.
