Back in June at AEC DevDays, Nick Zeeben previewed a cool new subassembly that I immediately fell in love with. A cut/fill conditional sub-assembly which would do different things based upon different conditions. It has now been released to C3D subscription members.

In last week’s post we discussed how to make your committee decisions official so that they can last through “generations” of employees at your company.  So your committee has finished the first major item on The List, it’s been made official via vote and documentation, and you’re ready to move on.  It may seem natural to keep the committee rolling on to the next task and store it all up for one massive rollout, but you must resist that temptation.  Read about a better approach after the jump.

I have seen a number of questions on in the Discussion Group recently regarding the Hydraflow Storm Sewer Extension and the calculation that do not exactly meet expectations.  There have been some misunderstandings, and some assumptions.  While I am jumping over Intensity, I think this is time to talk about some calculation options because they are connected.

If you go visit the Subscription Center, you’ll find that there are new extensions for C3D. The two import formats are fairly obscure (but French and MX users will be happy) but the HEC-RAS, Stage-Storage and new Subassemblies are pretty cool. I had problems getting the RAS installer to recognize my build, so I went around it and installed manually. Read how after the jump.

OK, so it’s not really C3D related, but it’s at least field related. Fluidforms out of Austria, has what I think might be the first ever bowl with land development appeal. Based on a Google Map, satellite data, and your own settings for the exaggeration, etc., you get to design your own bowl. While I couldn’t get the pricing or modeling links to work, perhaps you can. There’s also a German version of the site, so perhaps one of our European readers could help me out and send me the link to the builder? I really want to see my neighborhood done up like this!

Edit: It’s all about shockwave. I managed to get it loaded on my VM, and I’m really impressed. Not sure I’m 230Euro impressed just yet, but what a cool merge of tech and craft and all that jazz. JW
